Another note – WithExtendedProperties() is called WithMetadata() in recent builds of Autofac 2.

Thanks to a suggestion from @TheColonial, extended properties can now be set in a strongly-typed fashion using the metadata view itself:

builder.Register(c => new ScreenAppender())
.As()
.WithExtendedProperties(ep => ep.For(m => m.AppenderName, “screen”));

This will be in builds from 2.1.6 onwards.
